For us on our little farm it is important to be in harmony with the surroundings and nature.
Just some of our activities and actions:
- Solar system to produce electricity and batteries to store it, to use as little electricity from the grid as possible. In summer we are off-grid.
- Where ever possible we avoid to produce trash or try to recycle.
- The houses are well insulated and heat pumps are in use.
- Also locally grown wood is used for construction and heating.
- For electric items, such as fridges, washes and more, we look for low energy
consumption (low Energy Star rating). - The cleaning material is environmentally friendly and we avoid hazardous substances.
- Whenever possible we use our own grown products (e.g. fruit, vegetables, eggs) or buy it at neighbors or in the region.
- We store our own goods like potatoes, onions, jams, jells in our natural basement to provide them during the winter.
- The camping slots are all with gras, so water can go into the ground.
- Some slots are in the shade and wind protected, but sunny ones are also available. So one can vary over the year, weather conditions and needs.
- Water from the roofs is collected, so we can use it for watering the gardens.
- There are flower gardens and vegetables gardens. So we can pick our own fresh goods and use our flowers for decoration.
- We have a big variety of herbs to choose from.
- A variety of trees, bushes and plants are for birds and insects. Also there is space for hedgehogs, reptiles and more.
- Besides we have patches of wild flowers and even nettle. Some butterflies just eat nettle.
- We constantly look for new ideas and improvements.
To make it short, eco camping is not just a word for us. We try our best.
